Why You Should Make a 2024 Vision Board for Your Business

Can you believe that we are zooming into December already? Where did the year go? How do you feel about the health of your business as we are ending 2023? Take time to reflect on what you did well for your business and what didn't go as well as you had hoped. What big lessons have you learned as a business owner? I have a challenge for you going into 2024. I encourage you to make a vision board! Don't worry; I will talk you through why you should make a vision board for your business. In a post coming soon, we'll discuss the action steps of creating it.

Have you ever considered making a vision board for your business? They are one of my favorite rituals to start a new year full of vision, creativity, perspective, and grounded emotions. I usually make my vision boards on poster board and hang them in my room and/or office so I can visually check in with myself often about what is important to me. You can absolutely take the digital route if that is your preference. I use my board frequently as a guide to get back on track or pivot when things feel scary or out of control for me.

First things first: What the hell is a vision board? A vision board is a way to combine words and photos in collage form to represent your goals and expectations visually. The idea is to use it to plan your future and remain grounded in your dreams as the new year's momentum wears off.

The best part of a vision board is that they are private and focused on you and you alone. You do not have to share your board or include anything that isn't a direct reflection of you or what you want. How cool is having a special project where you are the main character? This is especially beneficial for those always giving others attention and mental energy. You deserve to focus on yourself!

The benefits of creating a 2024 vision board include tracking your progress and celebrating your wins! Throughout the year, you will meet a goal or learn a lesson, and you'll get to celebrate that because you spoke it into existence! I am a big fan of affirmations because you deserve all of the hype in the world. It allows you to focus. Sometimes, as a business owner, it's easy to spiral and feel out of control of how things are going. Vision boards allow you to focus and refocus (and refocus again and again!) on what you want for yourself. Sometimes, the most powerful tool we can use as business owners is our minds. We have to slow down and remind ourselves that we are capable and good at what we do. We are experts. We started our business for a reason, right? Vision boards allow us to create a positive headspace. When we create them, we are full of positive energy that we can use to carry through the year, especially when things start feeling hard or we hit a dry season.

In another blog post, I'll help walk you through the process of making a vision board. Before any work is done, though, it's important to understand your why. Write down your why and heart as you prepare to make your board. Take all the time you need to reflect on your goals so that you can communicate to yourself clearly in the future. Reflection is a massive piece of the business-owning puzzle.

I promise you that creating a visual for your 2024 business goals is a great way to start the new year with a fresh perspective. No matter how you're currently doing, starting in the right headspace will help guide you in the right direction. If you're not doing as well as you hoped, now is the time to regroup. If you're thriving, now is a great time to level up and keep your confidence high!

See you soon,
